NTCA Fall Conference 2017
We had a great week at i-Comm Connect to wrap up a busy September! Several members of our team traveled down to Philadelphia to attend and sponsor the NTCA 2017 Fall Conference from September 24-27. NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association, is the premier association representing more than 800 independent, community-based telecommunications companies that are leading innovation in rural and small-town America.
As first-time attendees and sponsors, i-Comm Connect knew the NTCA Fall Conference would be a great learning opportunity and way to meet with members of the Rural Broadband Association. What we were not fully anticipating though, was how family-oriented and down to earth everyone turned out to be. NTCA made great use of the 3.5 days by mixing fun networking events and important regulatory and industry sessions into an excellent agenda. Although we stayed for the 3.5 days, it only took 3.5 minutes to understand what NTCA means by the guiding principles:
- NTCA cultivates a positive work environment that embodies a culture of respect, collaboration, communication and innovation.
- Commitment to delivering premier services to every member, every time.
It was especially great to hear from Jessica Rosenworcel, Commissioner of the FCC and Shirley Bloomfield, CEO of NTCA, who both discussed the importance of stability and simplicity in the high-cost universal service fund, as well as the importance that everyone should have access to modern communications, regardless of who they are or where they live.
The conference was a great success and we are tremendously excited to be continuously involved with NTCA and their mission moving forward.
In other exciting news, we are thrilled to announce our exclusive partnership with Alpha Recon, a premier risk management solutions firm based in Colorado. They provide proactive web and mobile application based risk management technology that delivers safety intelligence to their clients’ personnel, assets, and offices around the globe. With TACTAL, they add seamless global communications capabilities to their platforms, giving personnel peace of mind knowing they can connect to their parent company at any time, from anywhere.

Joining the Tech:NYC community
Last week we were also welcomed into the Tech:NYC community! Tech:NYC works with its members, government, civic institutions, business and public policy forums, and the media to continue to grow NYC as a hub for innovation and a thriving place for tech entrepreneurs. The primary goals of Tech:NYC are to continue to attract tech talent and jobs to NYC, to support the growth of the technology sector, and to increase civic engagement by leaders of the New York tech community. i-Comm Connect’s philosophy aligns strongly with the objectives of Tech:NYC and we are proud to be a community member.
TAP Conference 2017
Lastly, we wrapped up the week by attending the third annual TAP Conference in New York City. The conference was hosted by Button, a mobile partnership platform that seeks to provide simple, scalable solutions to building partnerships that drive commerce. We spent the day learning about how top brands are employing their technology to capture their user’s delight, intent, and attention on mobile. It was especially interesting to hear from keynote speaker Sarah Personette, Vice President of Global Business Marketing at Facebook, who spoke about how convenience is more important than price to customers today. The conference showed a clear emphasis on providing the mobile consumer with a better-connected experience, a mission that we at i-Comm Connect certainly share and support.
