i-Comm Connect and WebRTC: The Future of Global Communications

Posted by Meredith Schmidt-Fellner on November 14, 2017 at 10:27 AM

i-Comm Connect is dedicated to transforming the customer service industry by harnessing the power of the latest communications technologies. Our patented VoIP calling solution, TACTAL, utilizes WebRTC to provide secure, instant calling for our clients.

What is WebRTC?

WebRTC is a collection of communications protocols and APIs (application programming interfaces) that allow for instant peer-to-peer connections over the internet in real time. The growing acceptance of this technology by industry giants demonstrates that we are early adopters of a technology shaping the future of global communications.

In September, Apple released major updates to iOS and Safari, including WebRTC compatibility, which makes TACTAL operational on all major browsers and smart-devices. All other major browsers had previously integrated WebRTC compatibility into their offering, except for a small plug-in necessary for Internet Explorer 11+, which is about 3% of the market. (To learn more about WebRTC browser compatibility, click here.) Because of the growing presence of WebRTC and real-time communications, i-Comm Connect continually improves and innovates our product to stay ahead of the market.

What is VoIP? How Can VoIP Benefit Your Small Business?

Posted by Bella Nalle on November 7, 2017 at 3:05 PM

What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) allows users to make calls over broadband Internet as opposed to leveraging traditional analog phone systems. The technology converts sound into digital packets andtransfers it through the internet to the desired end point. The outcome (i.e. placing a call) is nearly identical to traditional telco calling, however the multi-functionality, flexibility, and reduced costs of VoIP have driven increased adoption across the globe.

As more and more households say goodbye to traditional landlines and are embracing VoIP, enterprise companies have been cutting the cord too. But for many small and midsize businesses, the implementation of VoIP remains an uninvestigated option. No matter how small the business, there are many benefits to switching to VoIP such as enjoying the global presence enjoyed by larger enterprises.

i-Comm Connect September Update

Posted by Meredith Schmidt-Fellner on October 2, 2017 at 5:06 PM

NTCA Fall Conference 2017

We had a great week at i-Comm Connect to wrap up a busy September! Several members of our team traveled down to Philadelphia to attend and sponsor the NTCA 2017 Fall Conference from September 24-27. NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association, is the premier association representing more than 800 independent, community-based telecommunications companies that are leading innovation in rural and small-town America.

As first-time attendees and sponsors, i-Comm Connect knew the NTCA Fall Conference would be a great learning opportunity and way to meet with members of the Rural Broadband Association. What we were not fully anticipating though, was how family-oriented and down to earth everyone turned out to be. NTCA made great use of the 3.5 days by mixing fun networking events and important regulatory and industry sessions into an excellent agenda. Although we stayed for the 3.5 days, it only took 3.5 minutes to understand what NTCA means by the guiding principles:

  1. NTCA cultivates a positive work environment that embodies a culture of respect, collaboration, communication and innovation.
  2. Commitment to delivering premier services to every member, every time.

It was especially great to hear from Jessica Rosenworcel, Commissioner of the FCC and Shirley Bloomfield, CEO of NTCA, who both discussed the importance of stability and simplicity in the high-cost universal service fund, as well as the importance that everyone should have access to modern communications, regardless of who they are or where they live.

The conference was a great success and we are tremendously excited to be continuously involved with NTCA and their mission moving forward.
